About This Spot

Mom Pop’s is the kind of warm, easygoing American restaurant that feels like a familiar stop on a road well-traveled. Nestled quietly on South 6th Street in Petersburg, it offers a welcoming atmosphere where the pace slows just enough to savor more than a meal — it becomes a moment shared with family, friends, or kind strangers. The spacious, open dining rooms give a sense of casual comfort, a place where conversations flow freely, and time seems measured by the rise and fall of laughter rather than clocks.

Inside, the hum of friendly chatter blends with the gentle clinking of dishes and the subtle aroma of dishes made with care and tradition. This is a spot where home cooking meets thoughtful hospitality, reflected in every detail from the freshness of the bread to the homemade pickles waiting quietly on the table. Whether it’s a spontaneous stop during a day spent exploring the region or a planned pause to reconnect with simple, honest food, Mom Pop’s strikes a balance between familiar and thoughtfully crafted.

The menu invites curiosity without fuss. You might find yourself drawn to dishes that evoke nostalgic comfort — like crispy fried chicken paired with mashed potatoes that hold a little more texture and soul than the everyday. A roasted pot roast or tender pork shoulder carries the kind of slow-cooked flavors that suggest hours simmering in a warm kitchen. Fresh salads and hearty soups round out the offerings with the kind of care that makes each bite feel like a quiet nod to tradition.

The staff here seem to intuitively understand how to blend efficiency with genuine warmth. Whether you choose to settle in for a table experience or the casual convenience of ordering at the counter, the service keeps pace with your day, never rushing and always attentive. It’s the sort of place where occasional visitors are welcomed like old friends — a detail that makes the whole experience feel a little more personal.

Mom Pop’s isn’t just a stop on the map; it’s a glimpse into a slower, friendlier rhythm. The kind of neighborhood place where the food carries the weight of stories, and the space feels like a quiet celebration of local life.

Hot food, fast service. Chicken tasted good Yukon mashies were incredible. Service was top-notch. Pay at the table or the counter. I paid at the table. Powered by toast. Quick and easy. The other person in my party paid at the counter. Still fast but longer than the app. Good atmosphere, wide open rooms, semi-secluded bathrooms,

Went by here after a morning at Lincolns New Salem. Amazing! Friendly staff and customers. Super fresh and homemade (including the bread and pickles!) We got the chicken sandwich with honey and the lunch chicken plate.... Wow!! Also a nice fresh side salad. Juicy chicken and just delicious. The kids meal was perfect because it had fruit and fries! A great happy medium. There was also a cute and clean play area for kiddos inside. Just perfect! Cookies for dessert. Delicious!

My father and I were traveling through the area. We always look for a "Mom and Pop" place to eat when we're out of town and this place was recommended by a local citizen. We arrived at 1:45 p.m. and noticed that they close at 2:00. I went in and asked if we could still order and if not, I understand. They were more than welcoming! I ordered the pot roast and my father ordered the chicken tenders. BOTH MEALS WERE AMAZING! My dad raved about the cole slaw and the size of the fresh made white meat chicken tenders. He had leftovers lol. The pot roast was perfect! Pulled apart easily and melted in my mouth. Green beans had a great flavor to them too! I would totally frequent this place more often if I didn't live 3 hours away. Thank you to the awesome staff! Keep up the great work!

Glad to see this place take on a new life. Staff friendly, service excellent. Tonight was a select one of three dinners for $16.99. I went with the fried chicken. Chicken was quite tasty, homemade mashed potatoes with skin and homemade white gravy was delicious. I didn't try the green beans, (I like fresh crunchy veggies) and some homemade rolls. Desert was a Brownie with almonds,, chocolate sauce and caramel. Overall very good.

I was told to just always order the special. I am not a chicken sandwich fan but figured I would give it a try. I have never had a chicken sandwich this good. Every part was thought out from the chicken to the condiments to the bread. All very fresh and layers of flavor with nothing overpowering other tastes and textures. The potato wedges are also the best I have ever had. Not being a wedge fan I was again very surprised. If I am ever in the area again this will be where I eat.

I went for a dinner pop up fried chicken buffet and it was delicious! They had grilled chicken w cheese & tomatoes, fried chicken, chicken tenders, and spicy chicken tenders. Mac & cheese, mashed potatoes (w two options for gravy, brown & white), corn, green beans, and fresh baked rolls as sides AND a salad bar. There were 3 - 5 types of cookies for dessert as well. All of this + a drink came to $24. Definitely well priced as it was all you could eat! There wasn't a single item I would improve, every dish was excellent. If you haven't checked out Mom & Pops yet, get yourself there ASAP! (as an out of towner getting to Petersburg during their normal business lunch hours is tricky, so I'm happy they do dinner pop ups - hopefully they'll make dinner service during the week a permanent fixture!)

The food was so amazing! I couldn’t stop eating it. (Especially their burg dipping sauce) The service was phenomenal. They were so nice and so full of energy. I drove 40 minutes to get there and it was worth the drive!
